BONNER AND DUNNION URGE JIM TO GIVE IT ANOTHER GO

first_imgFormer Donegal manager and All-Ireland winner Declan Bonner has joined County chairman Sean Dunnion on calling for Jim McGuinness to stay on as Donegal manager. County chairman Dunnion has said him and the board will give Jim as much time and space as he needs to make a decision on his future but reiterated his hope that McGuinness will stay on.Declan Bonner who made McGuinness captain during his tenure as manager leading them to an Ulster final in 1998 has urged McGuinness to stay on and get the team back up to the heights they reached last year. Bonner said,“Jim has brought Donegal to new heights, what he has done for football in this county cannot be underestimated, he suffered a heavy defeat on Sunday but he is capable of getting the team back up to the heights of last year.”“The impact that squad of players and Jim has had is huge, young fellas who a few years ago looked up to English soccer stars as their heroes now have them in their own county in the form of Michael Murphy and Karl Lacey, they’ve transformed GAA in this county.”“He has brought unbelievable success and I hope people don’t lose sight of that.” The biggest issue surrounding McGuinness is whether or not he can give the considerable amount of time required to manage at this level.McGuinness has three children and twins on the way and spends most of his week in Glasgow working with Celtic. While many feel McGuinness won’t walk away due to the manner of Sunday’s defeat many feel he can no longer combine both roles as well as having time for his wife and young family. While McGuinness decides on his own future the county waits anxiously in hope that the Glenties man stays on winning matches as Donegal manager.  BONNER AND DUNNION URGE JIM TO GIVE IT ANOTHER GO was last modified: August 8th, 2013 by John2Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:CelticCommitmentDeclan BonnerdonegalfamilyGAAJim McGuinnessManagerSean DunnionStay onTenurelast_img read more
